Angela Evelyn Bassett was born in the US. Angela Evelyn is an American actor. Bassett is a native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was brought up in Winston-Salem North Carolina by her aunt, who was born in New York New York, is an acclaimed actress. Bassett along with her sister who were about five years old, moved away from the city of their birth to St. Petersburg to live with their mother, who was the divorced father. Bassett saw James Earl Jones in John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men play while she was still in high school, and realised that acting is what she wanted to do. Yale University New Haven Connecticut awarded her a bachelor's degree (1980) with a focus on African American study, and a graduate degree (1983) at the Yale School of Drama. She dated Courtney B. Vance, an actress who was also at Yale and they got married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. degree in African-American studies in 1980. Master of Fine Arts from Yale School of Drama School.
